So, this one is something of an anomaly, an outlier to the usual varieties generally collected at Lunan. I believe it to be an example of agate replacing a calcite habit, that is, in this case, a polyhedroidal one. Although in this piece, for whatever reason, the contents of each section have spilled out into others, in a rather chaotic fashion, though remnants of the original blades of calcite can be recognised in places. The calcite "skeleton", if you will, has collapsed, and possibly been partially dissolved, presumably while this piece was still in the process of becoming agatized/silicified. Feel free to disagree, I'm merely thinking aloud to myself with a stinking cold on a drizzly early November night....
